With the theme of MACHO (Movement Against Childhood Obesity), the event is focused on inspiring healthy lifestyle habits for kids by helping families identify the foods, products and fitness activities that can create new habits and change their course in life through proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.

“Since 1980, childhood obesity has almost tripled in the U.S, with almost 17% of children qualifying as obese. Causes include habits like drinking too many sugary drinks, eating less healthy foods, lack of physical activity, increased portion sizes and limited access to affordable healthy foods. We want to help eliminate this problem be introducing enjoyable and healthy lifestyle changes that will turn this statistic around,” said Richard DeSimone, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CarpeVITA, Inc.

Children and their families will be enriched at this event as they are introduced to healthy lifestyle habits. They will be able to sample healthy foods, drinks and snacks, participate in fitness classes and workouts for kids and adults, take part in a family walk/run, connect with local providers of health goods and services, learn about nutrition and exercise, play games and win prizes. Doug Steinly, President of Horsham Athletic Club had this to say about the event: “MACHO is going to be an incredible and unique event. We are bringing together a fun blend of activities, education and participation that is sure to inspire children and their families to adopt healthy lifestyles. With a great mission must come the ability to inspire great action. There is nothing mundane about this event – from the workouts for kids we’ve created to the plethora of top notch foods, products and services that will be available, we’ve poured our heart and soul into making this a lasting lifestyle success for all those who attend.”
